The kids and I went out to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife’s “Free Fishing Day” down in Cottage Grove on Saturday. It was a cool, cloudy day with many people out fishing. Both Nora and Jonah fished for a couple of hours with Jonah finally catching a nice little Rainbow trout – his first ever catch.
We loved the pictures of the fishing triip. And the phone conversations with Jonah and Nora were priceless. Jonah’s pride in catching his first fish — a Rainbow Trout, no less — and Nora’s reassurance that Mother had said,”you can have fun on a fishing trip even if you don’t catch fish!” were as warm as the pictures.
We mailed copies of the pictures to Aunt Marie. Because she and grew up with a fishing Dad (and Mom), she was very touched to know some younger Sharps were carry on the tradition.
Love to you all.
