Yesterday was Nora’s fourth birthday. She had a thoroughly wonderful day with a day at school, lunch with Dad at work and then some presents and cake in the evening. She is four!
We celebrated most of Nora’s birthday on Sunday (the day before her actual birthday), since the whole family would be home all day. It was funny how often Nora felt the need to clarify that she wasn’t actually three quite yet. The morning was surprisingly sunny, so we all went to a park for some birthday bike riding fun.
Chased by Dad…
Jonah was so excited for Nora to open the inflatable earth that he picked out for her. It was her first present of the day, before they even got out of their pajamas.
The rest of the presents were opened after we got back from the park. This kid looooves to open gifts. December ends up being a good month for her.
A batting helmet!! Now she can be on a different team from Jonah if she wants. So exciting!
And a Mariners jersey! Jonah really wanted her to finish with the presents so he could “dress her up like a Mariner.”
Cake time! Unlike last year, Nora didn’t have any specific requests, just colors – blue, green, orange. And chocolate. So I just got a tasty chocolate cake from the bakery and added decorations to the top.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!!!
Nora is three today! She would like to tell everyone about all the things she can do.
What a big kid!
Getting back on track with pictures… here are some from back in September.
The weather was still great. Lots of time outside.
Jonah learned to pump the swings all by himself.
On August 7, our big kid turned five!
He had a very fun day, opening lots of presents from family and friends who love him. And who know that he loves space and baseball…
Nora kept herself positioned very close by for all the unwrapping, and worked so hard at letting Jonah do the job even though she was just as excited as he was. :)
Jonah is really into maps now, too, and likes finding all sorts of different countries and cities on the globe.
New Mariners hat!
Opening Nora’s gift.
“Hmmm… What could this be???”
And the last surprise of the day – a big-kid bike! Jonah has gotten so good with the balance bike that it seemed like a good time for him to learn to pedal himself along. He’s not quite ready to go cruising down the road completely by himself, but he’s definitely getting closer. We just need to spend more a little time in some paved open spaces, and I think he’ll be well on his way.
On his actual birthday, Jonah just had the store cupcake in the picture at the top. Later that weekend we had a birthday party with a few of his friends, and I made him a solar system cake that he loved. (He chose to eat Earth.)
And finally, because it’s fun…
