Walking Outside

Since Nora has fully committed to walking everywhere now, it was definitely time for her to get her first pair of real rubber-soled shoes. She loves the outdoors, andthere’s a pretty good chance it’s going to be wet and muddy out there for at least six more months. Now she’s prepared.

This past week, she walked a good two blocks on our way to pick up Jonah from preschool. I finally put her in the stroller so we wouldn’t be late, and she was NOT happy about it at all. We went to a friend’s house to play on Friday, and she walked the whole four blocks there. I picked her up to cross the streets, and again, she was NOT pleased.

She likes to veer off into the grass to “run away” from me, cracking up as she does it. She also checks out all sorts of stuff on the ground and on plants that we pass.

I recently made her these pants. The idea was to have cute little pockets on the side of the leg, and it seemed like I had placed them well, but when I finally turned the pants right-side out, they somehow became knee pockets. But they fit her well, so yeah… She has knee pockets. :)

I’ve been finding it hard to take pictures indoors this time of year, since the light is so scarce, but every once in a while, we get some good sun coming in the kitchen. I forget what was so funny here, but I love when she cracks up like this.

And here’s Jonah, very much enjoying the Island of Sodor we set up for all his trains. He helped make stations, sheds, the docks for the ferry, and he played with this all day!
