Day at the Beach

We decided to take a day trip to the beach and take advantage of our closeness to the ocean. Some friends here let us know about a nice stretch of shoreline that was great for hanging out and playing in the sand. Even though it’s been very hot and summery in Eugene, it can still be extremely foggy and chilly just an hour away. Thanks to a fleece jacket and knit hat, I was able to enjoy the Oregon coast in July. The kids did, too.

Jonah and Sean had great success flying a kite.

Nora enjoyed rolling around on the blanket, still trying her best to get crawling. She also seemed to really like playing in the sand, but if I tried to get a picture of that, she would have taken the opportunity to eat the sand.

The boys played catch in the sand.

Jonah stepped in the water for a few seconds, but tearfully decided that he needed to be picked up because it was freeeeeezing!

I’ve heard that it IS occasionally possible to be at the ocean here on a day that feels warm, so we’ll be giving it a few more tries before the summer is over.

Looks like all had a good time. As the kids great grandmother used to say, “No matter what the weather at the coast,. you’ll never catch the sniffles!!” And we didn’t!! It just takes getting used to. We love you.
