Today we took Jonah to the town egg hunt, and it was less than successful in the egg-hunting realm. It was set up for the littlest ones to go under a tent by themselves to pick eggs out of straw with only college volunteers to help – no parents allowed. We were pretty sure Jonah wouldn’t go for that, and we were right. He stood in the entryway for about 20 seconds and then turned around with huge tears rolling and the big lip sticking out. Someone tossed a half-dozen eggs in his basket, and that was it. It all happened so fast, there aren’t even any pictures of the trauma. But later, he was pretty happy to pick up the prickly things that fell off the trees and added those to his basket.
He was also really interested in seeing the Easter Bunny, but was less happy about actually sitting near him.
Then we ran into Jonah’s friend, Izzy, who let him borrow her cool Easter Bunny ears.
And then Jonah wanted Mom to wear the ears. Pretty funny.
What’s with the “No Parents” rule? Were they afraid you would knock over some kid that was about to get an egg before Jonah?
