Last week I discovered a great website where a former preschool teacher shares daily art projects that she does with her 2-year-old son. It hadn’t occurred to me that Jonah was old enough to do these sorts of things yet, but I gave a few a try. Well, it turns out that he can do a lot more than I might think, and he really likes it. His especially likes the glue, and he’s even started to say ‘glue.’ :) Since he’s really into identifying colors right now, a lot of these ideas are really fun for him. And if there’s a truck involved, so much the better.
So today, I printed a picture of a garbage truck off the internet, and he colored it… green, of course.
Then we put some wheels on, as an excuse to glue more. He laughs at me if I try to put the wheels in a weird place like on top of the truck, and then he puts them where they should go.
Then we glued it onto another piece of paper. Poo-tah!! (purple)
We crumpled up some newspaper – fun – to put in the back of the truck for garbage.
“Kuck green!”
Then he wanted to do more colors with the ‘Do-a-Dot’ paint markers we got. They are super great for this age! He also really likes putting the caps back on.
And here he is with the apple tree he made yesterday – he really liked giving it a blue and purple apple. Jonah was so proud and excited to show it to Sean when he got home from work!
Sara, so good you are “turning him loose” and letting him try things that we just don’t expect he can do. Not bragging just because he is “our” (your folks included) grandson, but he is very capable. It is so rewarding to watch him grow and create “kucks and other things.” You and Sean are doing well.
