Jonah’s enjoyed setting up his road to race his matchbox cars down the hill. Before he lets go of one, he says, “Goooooooo!” very seriously. Cora played along for a while, too, but she says “Wheeeee!” They crack me up.

Jonah really likes to help out in the kitchen and pretend that he’s cooking things. So a few days ago, when I came across a website with a picture of a stove made out of a cardboard box, I was excited to make one for Jonah. Today during (a long) naptime, I was able to finish this up, and he’s spent a LOT of time with it already! I cut some food pictures off of packages, and he had great fun stirring them up, turning on the burners, ‘tasting’ his food, and putting pasta in and out of the oven.
Checking on the pasta – “hot hot”
Ready to eat
“turn pasta on”
Crazy excited face
It was a very cold and rainy weekend around here, so we stayed inside at home for most of it. Of course, Jonah still had a good time playing with all his toys.
He loves to get into the kitchen drawers. Lately, he wants to ‘cook pasta’ using the measuring cups and spoons.
He’s also learned how to lock our doors, and frequently locks himself in his bedroom. Fun.
Playing with Farmer Bob
While we were in Annapolis this past weekend, Jonah and I went to a children’s ‘museum’ (which was basically a few themed rooms full of toys to play with). He spent the most time playing in the kitchen setup they had. It was really fun to watch him imitate so many of the things he sees us doing. He picked out foods – said he was going to ‘Kroger’. Then he got out some pans, took food out of the fridge, cooked it, put it on plates, and fed it to some dolls. While he was cooking the eggs, he kept saying ‘Dad egg,’ since he knows Sean is the one who does the egg cooking around here. :)
He also loved the room with the typewriter and old phones and fax machines.
And he discovered ‘Go Dog Go’… in Spanish!!!
Jonah’s starting to do some pretend play with his stuffed animals, and it is really fun to watch. The other day, he got his lion, sat him on the high chair, opened the silverware drawer and signed ‘eat’. I gave him a spoon and a bowl, and he went back over and started feeding the lion. He was very pleased with himself.
Then he did some rearranging, so that his other lion and monkey could have some snack, too.
