Sean had a conference in Virginia Beach this past weekend, so Jonah and I went along for a fun change of scenery. (And because we would miss Sean for four days.) Our hotel was right on the beach, and there was one day that it wasn’t totally freezing and windy that we got to walk around and play for a bit.
Pointing at a big boat
Jonah refused to say ‘sand’. He thought it was very funny to call it ‘dirt’.
He loved my truck drawings in the sand. Even a bulldozer!
Stalking the seagulls
We went to the Norfolk Zoo and saw a lot of animals that Jonah hadn’t ever seen for real before. He really liked the monkeys and turtles, and practiced some new animal words.
We enjoyed some swim time in the hotel pool.
The next day we went to the Chesapeake Aquarium. By far, Jonah’s favorite was the sea turtle – ‘more big turtle!’ He also started saying ‘shark’, ‘snake’, seahorse’, ‘lobster’, ‘crab’, and ‘ray’ while we were there.
On to the sharks!
Jonah’s checking out the ‘big turtle’ sculpture near our hotel.
But it was way too cold to stay outside long, so we went to the Starbucks nearby so I could get a warm drink. I got some hot chocolate, thinking that Jonah could enjoy a little treat. He was NOT a fan. At all. Here are a few cute shots of him hanging out by the window there (where he could watch the traffic, of course).
And finally, back at the hotel, Jonah sat in the big chair to look at his favorite page in his favorite book – oh my goodness! – there’s a garbage truck!!
Yum, artificial sweeteners.
I love that first turtle picture; it looks like it’s coming right at him! He is adorable as always.
Thanks for sharing that great weekend. Super pictures!!
