Halloween

So it’s been a really long time since I posted new pictures, and maybe I’ll get around to posting some of the last couple of months sometime, but for now, let’s just jump straight to Halloween!

Last weekend we visited a farm to go through a small corn maze, see a bunch of lit up jack-o-lanterns and choose pumpkins to bring home for carving.

Neither kid was remotely interested in scooping out the insides.

But they both drew on their own faces, and Jonah even did a bit of his own carving on the eyes.

With some coaxing, they were willing to reach inside to push out the cut pieces.

On Halloween, the kids were so excited to walk around in their costumes. Nora really wanted to be a spider. I’m not sure where she got the idea, but once she did, she was not interested in any further suggestions. :)

And Jonah was our astronaut. No huge surprise there. He was thrilled at how much he thought he looked like a ‘real astronaut!’ Meanwhile, Nora was eager to tell anyone who would listen that, “Jonah’s going to be an astronaut, but really it’s just a pile of duct tape.”

Jonah loved finding a ‘Milky Way’ bar. He is an astronaut, after all.

Summer Fun

It’s hard to believe tomorrow is September already. We sure have enjoyed this last month or two of great summer weather. The kids have had fun playing with water on hot days…

And we got in a fun day of strawberry picking! (But no, he did not pick that bucket by himself. I wish…)

summer16.jpg

Yum!

summer17.jpg

Oh, and Nora learned how to swing all by herself. “I not even need a push anymore!!!”

And sometimes after such fun days, you cannot control when and where you fall asleep. :)

Little Phillies

We’re in the thick of baseball season around here, and it’s a rare day that the kids do not ask/demand to be dressed in some sort of baseball-related clothes, especially their Phillies ones. Recently we came across Jonah’s old baseball pants, which Nora was thrilled to put on with her red socks pulled up, just like Hunter Pence.

Seattle trip part 1

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took a trip up to Seattle to visit family and go to the Northwest Folklife Festival. We had a great time and took many photos. Because of this, we have decided to break the posts up into two parts – below is part one:

Nora and Jonah both enjoyed playing baseball in the ballpark that Grandad made for them:

Jonah even enjoyed being the catcher and calling pitches to strike out Uncle Larry:

Jonah did a great job of running down his uncle and making the tag for the out, too!

Nora is ready to make the catch!

One morning we took a walk down to the ship canal in Ballard to look at the boats:

Finally some photos with Gran and Grandad:

When the kids decided to do the wave, Gran got right in the spirit and joined ’em!

We had a great trip and look forward to seeing everyone again sometime this summer!

End of April

Last week, we discovered a snail trying to get into our lettuce! Since they’re not supposed to cross copper tape, I was very curious to see what this one would do. The kids were enthusiastic snail stalkers. At one point, they were even sitting on the step with their lunches on their laps so they wouldn’t lose track of it.

And the snail inspired a little drawing project. (He never made it to the lettuce.)

img_3091.JPG

We celebrated Sean’s birthday. The kids were so excited to decorate his ‘birthday chair’ all by themselves!

img_3086.JPG

And Jonah couldn’t stop talking about how much Dad was going to LOVE the baseball cake. (He did.)

img_3088.JPG

The kids have been riding bikes a lot. Nora looks like such a big kid making her way around on the two-wheeler.

Nora found the moon!

I made this play tent out of some cheap bedsheets. It will be great for the sunny days in the summer when there’s no shade anywhere in the backyard. For now, the kids love playing with it in the living room. Lots of pretend camping…

…and giving each other a hard time. ;)

Here’s a proud Nora with her very tall domino tower.

And here’s a great video of her counting all the ‘windows’.

Finally, Jonah had his first visit to the eye doctor. We were very happy to learn that at least so far, he seems to have inherited his dad’s excellent vision. Phew!
