Babies in a Pool

It’s very hot here (again) today, and Jonah got to go for a little swim with his friends, Anna and Esther. As much as he enjoys his solo bathtime, we’re finding that he’s not so much of a fan of splashing around with other kids. He managed to tolerate about a half hour of time in the water, alternately splashing with his toys and trying to climb out.

Pittsburgh Visit

Last week, we drove up to Pittsburgh to visit my good college friend, Keira, and her family. While we were there, Jonah got to go to the zoo for the first time. His favorite part was probably the aquarium with all the big colorful fish. It’s hard to tell how much he really noticed the other animals, though. :)

Ella and Thomas were very nice to share so many of their toys with Jonah. Thomas has a lot of cars and trucks that were fun to play with, and Ella let Jonah ride around on her tricycle with her and push her baby stroller.

But all the playtime with the big kids made Jonah tired!

Their front yard was a good place for Jonah to watch cars, trucks, and buses go by.

On the last day of our visit, we went to the park in the morning to help get Jonah tired out so he’d sleep in the car.

Ella gave Jonah some ice cream at the ice cream stand and showed him how the big kids go down the slide.

Jonah practiced more of his walking, and we still hoped to get him sleepy. It was a nice idea and we had a fun time at the park, but he stayed awake for most of the drive anyway…

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Today Jonah went to his first (of what will probably be many) baseball game. Our friend, Bob, joined us to travel to Salem for a minor league Avalanche game. Mostly, Jonah liked the big blue seats and enjoyed having a different place to stand up and walk around. Some rain rolled in during the 8th inning, so we left a little early. Of course, as we were heading out, the Avalanche hit a two-run home run, but it was not enough. They lost 4-3.

The game is more fun when he can stand up to watch.

Baby Picnic

This morning we met up with a bunch of our baby friends to go for a walk on the Huckleberry Trail. It was quite the impressive caravan. Afterwards, we hung out on the grass and had lunch and some playtime.

Jonah fell asleep about a minute after we got in the car to drive home, so I thought I’d put him in his crib to see if he’d continue the nap on his own. After a few minutes, I peeked in the doorway to find this:

He did not want to continue the nap on his own.

Jumper

We hung out with some of our mom and baby friends today, and Jonah got to try out Luke’s doorway jumper. It was quite a hit – he really liked bouncing around. Too bad we don’t have the right door frames for one of our own.

Later, he and Luke ‘played’ for a short time (which really means they grabbed at the same toys).

Then Luke became interested in Jonah’s overall clasps. Jonah was….. concerned.
