Play Dough Time

This morning we got out the play dough for a little while. I gave Nora some plastic animals to stick in it, in an effort to distract her from wanting to eat the dough.img_8806.JPG

Then she enjoyed filling up the empty cups with her things.

Jonah saw me only taking pictures of Nora (because he said he doesn’t like me to take pictures of him anymore) and decided he wanted to be in some pictures, too.

The tongue of concentration

“Hey, Mom, take a picture of me and the red ball!”

“Did it work? Did you take the picture?”

img_8826.JPG

“Ok now. Stop taking pictures.”

“Noooo! You will NEVER take more pictures!!”

Playing Outside

The kids played some baseball outside with Sean yesterday afternoon. Nora really wanted to get Jonah’s bat, so we tried to distract her with one of her own.

Jonah really liked this picture of him throwing his baseball cap in the air.

Nora also enjoyed swinging for a while, too. She is looking so big in her swing now (and wearing Jonah’s hat!)

Then today, it was surprisingly sunny and ‘warm’, so Nora and I went to the park while Jonah was at school. She’s getting really good at climbing the stairs and walking around on the play structure.

Back at home, Jonah practiced drawing his trains while I made lunch. Here he is with Percy. “Percy has a great number six and he even has tracks to go on, and one whistle, AND smoke coming out!”

img_8424.JPG

“And here’s Thomas. He’s making a face that says, ‘Hmmm… Which cars should I couple onto?'”

img_8425.JPG

This is what Nora looks like whenever I ask her if she wants a crunchy snack. O’s, puffs, crackers, it doesn’t matter. She loves her crunchies!

And then just because we were in such a happy mood with the beautiful day, Jonah and I had a little ice cream outside after Nora went down for her nap. :)

End of August

I’ve fallen a little behind with the photo posting, so here are a bunch from the last week or so. I can’t believe it’s September already!

Jonah wanted me to take a picture of a “crazy face”.

Nora loves finding leaves, mulch, dirt, hairballs, etc.

The Phillie Phanatic is reading a book to Jonah. (I have some pretty great video of the Phanatic’s reading voice, and hopefully will post it someday…)

While Nora napped in the backseat, we pulled over so Jonah could watch some VERY EXCITING CONSTRUCTION!!! I like his face in the side mirror. :)

I took a bunch of pictures of Nora in front of our house after she tracked down a piece of Jonah’s chalk. She was incredibly pleased with her find, and I just love too many of these pictures to narrow them down.

At the Fair

The Lane County Fair took place this past weekend, and the fairgrounds are conveniently located less than a ten minute walk from our house, so we went every day. Nora’s favorite part was definitely seeing all the different animals in the barns, but Jonah mostly loved looking at all the rides (and the daredevil flip-in-the-air motorcycle riders). The first day we went, he carefully checked out all his options and decided that his ride of the day should be the race cars. It was his very first amusement park-type ride. So off he drove…

img_6596.JPG

He took his driving VERY seriously.

The next day, we chose a food treat – Jonah’s first funnel cake (and possibly his first seriously deep fried food). He was definitely a fan!

img_6607.JPG

After we finished it, I showed him how to lick the extra sugar off the plate. He thought this was pretty hilarious.

The next day, Jonah chose another ride – the boats. He cruised under a few tepees and enjoyed it quite a bit.

We also stopped in the bingo tent for a minute, played one game, and walked out $12 richer, which was great because it pretty much covered the cost of rides and a funnel cake. :)

And while I circled numbers, Jonah used his crayon to draw a truck on the table. Of course.

img_6620.JPG

Here’s another truck he drew recently – “a backhoe shoveling up dirt with its scoop in the back!”
