Our good friend, Jessi, took the train down from Vancouver to spend a few days with us. She’s had a lot of fun with the kids - reading books and playing silly games with Jonah, and doing lots of baby holding while gathering up bunches of Nora smiles.
Naptimes overlapped for a short while today, so I got a new batch of pictures ready to go.
First up - Nora on the floor…
Uh oh…
And here she is in a more upright position.
Practicing holding her head up while she sits
And if anyone is wondering whether she and Jonah look alike, here are a few posts from when Jonah was about the same age. Click here and here and here.
Jonah’s been up to his usual stuff as well. Here he’s using his pattern blocks to make pictures of vehicles.
He asked to make “an itsy bitsy spider project” so we rolled a ball around with white paint for a web. Then he drew a spout for me to cut out and glued (and counted) eight legs for the spider.
The “worker hat” is in place for dump truck operation.
I drew him a guitar and a head, so he could give Peter a face like he was ready to play. He ran back over, very excited, and said, “Did you give Peter arms and fingers to play that guitar?!” It’s the first time he’s put limbs on any of his people, and I just loved the fingers.
Nora really loves to be held, so she doesn’t have a whole lot of times where she’s really happy just lying on the floor looking around. Usually about once a day, I’ll get a somewhat decent stretch where she is content to make her happy noises and smile at me and Jonah. Here’s a couple of minutes of Nora in action for all of you who like listening to those little baby sounds.
Recently, I made Jonah a microphone (at his request) out of a toilet paper roll and a ball of foil. Since then, he’s spent hours and hours singing songs into it. He especially likes to set himself up in the hallway so he can look down to the mirror and make sure he’s got all his moves down just like the guys he watches on youtube.
He continues to entertain Nora, and she’s starting to pay more attention to his playing.
Yesterday, we were in the back yard and heard what sounded like a big truck, so we went out front to investigate. It was a cement truck! Jonah was so excited about seeing “a cement truck just like at our old house!” that he took off running and promptly face-planted on the sidewalk. He cried for a minute, but recovered pretty quickly so that we could keep walking to see the truck. When we got back home, I noticed that in addition to some scrapes, he had actually gotten a fat lip (which he called a “flat lip”).
Then he asked, “Do you want Mom to take a picture of you with your crying face?” and made this face for me.
And then it was back to playing ball in the yard.
He also really wanted me to take a picture of him lifting the dumper on his truck. So here it is.
